It’s already a steep climb to support yourself with a blog. There are thousands of them on the internet, which makes competing as a professional blogger challenging. That’s why choosing one of the best blog niches, one that provides unique content for specific groups of people, can give you a head start.

By creating content based on trending niches, finding the most profitable blog niches, and while also avoiding broad subject matter, you increase the chances you’ll establish a good following and also have monetization opportunities. If you’re hoping to blog for a living, these aspects are key. 🎹

In this post, we’ll explore what niches are and how they fit into the blogging industry. Then we’ll list five of the best blog niches to choose from, from popular niches to the most profitable blog niches. Let’s go! πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ

Understanding good, unique niches and why they’re important for blogging

In blogging, we typically think of a niche as a specific area in which a blogger specializes. Their content relates to this unique subject matter and is considered high-quality and authoritative on trending topics.

Not every blog has a unique niche, and there is some debate over whether or not a blog must stick to a specific niche in order to be profitable/popular. However, it is generally acknowledged that niche blog topics provide some useful qualities that make money and offer content guidance for beginners and advanced content creators alike.

First, a good niche narrows your blog’s content. If you decide to write about any subject that comes to mind, your blog can become somewhat chaotic, bouncing between high-demand topics and those that only a few people want to read. Visitors may struggle to make sense of what your blog is ‘about,’ and this can affect your retention rates.

Al Kavadlo blog.

On his blog, Al Kavadlo narrows the topic of fitness down to the bodyweight training niche. He also has tutorials for unconventional exercises that you won’t find in mainstream fitness publications (like this one).

Scattered subject matter also makes it more difficult to build a dedicated audience. Visitors typically make their way to popular blogs looking for information on a unique topic. If your blog covers many blog topics, it will be harder to encourage first-time readers to engage with additional posts that may not apply to their interests.

Finally, sticking to a high-demand, trending niche can help establish your credibility. Writing about niche blog topics, following one or two ideas, gives you the chance to show your knowledge. In contrast, writing broad, shallow articles with ideas and topics that readers can find anywhere, sets you up for failure.

Should you choose to pursue a unique niche, the decision isn’t one to make lightly. You’ll likely be working in this area for years, so you want your subject to be something you find interesting and enjoyable. However, it also helps if the niche blog topic already has an established audience (high demand) and opportunities that make money. πŸ’°

For beginner bloggers who don’t know much about setting up a site, here’s how to start a niche blog with good topics:

  • Get a killer domain namea domain name or your blog name (like www.themeisle.com) will cost you as low as $8 per year using Namecheap.
  • Find reliable hosting – this is the server that stores your website files, making it live online. We highly recommend Bluehost, which costs as low as $2.75 per month. Here are some other inexpensive hosting providers to consider.
  • Use a blogging platform that’s built for beginners – we suggest WordPress which is the #1 blogging platform in the world and provided as a free download (you simply have to sign up for your own hosting).

Once you put it all together, it’s rather simple to start your own blog; all you need next are some niche blog ideas and profitable topics!

Starting a blog is one of the best ideas for making money online, assuming you find a trending niche to target. And to help you with that, we created a hand-picked list of the five best blog niches to make your online business profitable, high demand, and unique in 2024. πŸ§‘β€πŸ’Ό

How to find your niche

Deciding on a niche involves some soul-searching, self-evaluation, and an analysis of trending topics and the public in general.

Here are some important questions to ask for finding the popular, profitable niche that you’ll be excited about long into the future:

  • What are your passions or interests? Sports, travel, business, woodworking, gardening, interior design, fashion – they all have potential as profitable niches.
  • Are there niche blog topics you could get interested in? Just because you’ve never cooked doesn’t mean you can’t learn.
  • What are the workload and resource requirements? Travel blogging is expensive and time-consuming, but sitting at home taking pictures of food or clothing makes for a lifestyle that won’t burn you out.
  • Can you narrow down one of your interests into a sub-topic? Like gardening for urban dwellers, shopping for gluten-free people, or fashion for lanky men.
  • Do your niche blog ideas offer plentiful content options? You want to ensure you never struggle to think of ideas for blog posts.
  • Are there profitable monetization opportunities? Think affiliate marketing, advertising, partnerships, sponsorships, and course creation. Are there affiliate programs that actually pay good money? Many affiliate programs pretty much take advantage of people with their low percentages.
  • Will you have a love for this niche blog topic after you’ve written 100s of posts? Really put yourself in that mentality down the road. You also don’t want to destroy your love for a passion by turning it into a business.
  • How many other people are looking for this type of content? Keyword research helps to figure this out. Keyword research can be done using services such as SE Ranking, KWFinder, etc. πŸ™‹

Popular niche vs less explored niche: which type should you choose?

You have two options when considering niche blog ideas:

  • Choose a popular niche with strong competition.
  • Opt for a less-explored niche with better growth potential.

Either way, we want the niche to be profitable, and it must provide opportunities for popular, trending, unique content.

So, which route should you take? Here are some thoughts on each:

πŸ‘‰ Choosing a larger-scale, popular niche

  • You’ll encounter far more competition.
  • This competition will most likely have stronger connections, resources, and SEO tools when you’re just starting out.
  • You won’t be able to monetize as quickly, but it has the potential for much higher profits in the future.
  • Popular niches offer plentiful content opportunities.
  • You’ll have an easier time finding sponsorships and affiliate programs.
  • You can partner with already established bloggers within the popular niche.
  • It’s sometimes easier to build a website since many theme developers cater to popular blogging niches.

πŸ‘‰ Choosing a less-explored niche

  • Less-explored (but still potentially profitable) blog niches give you more of a chance to focus on a passion as opposed to going with whatever is trending/popular.
  • It’s less intimidating since you’re not battling the behemoths in the space.
  • You’ll have an easier time finding success with keywords.
  • It’s much easier to grow a following.
  • You’re more likely to create extremely loyal followers, since you may be the only credible resource online for their needs.
  • You may find it a little more difficult to find sponsorships and monetization options.
  • Although making money should come earlier if you’re able to connect with the right people through marketing.
  • Content ideas should be plentiful, but you won’t have as much inspiration to pull from (since not as many people are writing about it online).

Five of the best blog niches that make money (and are great for beginners)

There’s a host of top blogging niches available for hobbyists and professionals alike. Many – if not all – of them can be profitable. Yet, overall, high-quality content and strong Search Engine Optimization (SEO) are more critical for a blog’s success than a unique niche.

Even so, the top blogging niches below tend to give beginners a higher likelihood of being able to live comfortably off of their blog’s revenue. We’ve compiled this list by researching which popular niches have maintained their profitability, demand, and popularity over time. In other words, you’re not going to find NFTs on this list. πŸ˜… Sorry NFT fans, longevity in the blogging game is important.

πŸ“š Keep reading to find the best niche blog ideas and topics for your next site!

Profitable niche blog idea #1: food

Everyone eats, so naturally, food is a popular blogging topic. Food blogging gains a fair amount of organic traffic through recipe posts. It also has the potential to let you branch out into cookbooks and tutorials. According to income reports [1], plenty of food blogs are profitable, bringing in thousands (sometimes millions) each month.

It’s a high-demand, niche blog idea, one that makes money and often thrives on trending food patterns. Sometimes we see international cuisines introduced elsewhere (remember how people in the US suddenly realized that hummus and avocados existed?). Other times, social media plays a role. For example, how everyone wanted to showcase pies and sourdough bread at the start of the Covid pandemic. In short, unique topic ideas often come naturally with food blogs.

The Pinch of Yum food site is a good example of one of the best blog niches.
Pinch of Yum is a food blog that showcases “realistic” healthy meals, focusing on shorter cooking times and affordable ingredients.

You have an even better chance of crafting a profitable blog if you choose to specialize in a particular diet; unique vegan and vegetarian blogs, for example, have an easier time building a loyal audience than more generalized food blogs, as do popular blogs related to specific food allergies.

Niche blog idea #2: fashion

Fashion blogs are one of the most-searched-for types of blogs on the internet [2]. Should you choose to start one, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to bring in organic traffic fairly quickly since thousands of people are looking to follow good, unique blogs in this profitable niche.

The Atlantic Pacific fashion blog.
The Atlantic-Pacific blog combines east-coast and west-coast styles to offer feminine, quirky, and classic fashion advice.

There are also good opportunities for sponsorships since you’re constantly working with branded products to research for trending, niche blog topics. You could also easily expand your brand onto other platforms, such as Instagram and YouTube. These platforms offer additional revenue streams and allow you to become profitable faster.

Popular niches in the fashion world vary based on the trends themselves. Fashion moves quickly, but many bloggers have found success by focusing on fashion for beginners. For example, beginner fashion for college kids, or people who just recently moved to a city. Other sub-niche ideas include fashion for people with certain hair types, heights, or body types.

Profitable niche blog idea #3: personal finance

Managing your money can get confusing, which might be why so many people turn to good personal finance blogs for help. And, since finance-savvy individuals usually run them, it’s not surprising that there are quite a few of these blogs are in high demand and profitable. Some make tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars per month [3].

finmasters.
The FinMasters blog covers personal finance with actionable, everyday tips that anyone can complete to improve their financial standing right now.

Finance is a popular niche that isn’t easy to just jump into. While you don’t need a formal finance-related education, you’ll at least want to have a good handle on your own money, and unique tips and tricks to share with readers.

If you’re wondering how to find a profitable niche within the finance world, it usually starts by evaluating your strengths with personal finance. From there, you need to research good blog topics, trending ideas, and specific people who may need help with unique financial situations.

For instance, the Money Under 30 blog helps young adults. Another finance blog, Get Rich Slowly, focuses on building wealth the smart way, with minimal risk. Then you have the Penny Hoarder, which taps into unique ideas to save money. It also offers at-home activities that make money, along with coupons to save in the future.

Niche blog idea #4: lifestyle

The ‘lifestyle’ blogging niche is a bit of a catch-all topic. It only requires bloggers to write about their daily lives and related topics, so lifestyle blogs don’t always stick as closely to a single topic as those in some other profitable, high-demand niches. A popular sub-group is the infamous ‘Mommy Blog’:

The Scary Mommy lifestyle site.

The Scary Mommy lifestyle blog showcases multiple contributors who share their experiences and hacks from motherhood, with advice on pregnancy, parenting, kids, lifestyle, entertainment, and relationships.

You can essentially generate a blog that chronicles your life. However, it must have some sort of pull with trending niches and an overall topic that’s fun, relatable, and useful. For example, mommy blogs, family travel blogs, or even urban living blogs tend to do well. The idea is to outline how you live your life. That often also leads to monetization opportunities, since you can showcase products or services for readers to implement in their own lives.

The mommy blog niche in particular has spawned an entire industry of its own, with vast opportunities for sponsorships and other monetization techniques. This makes sense, because as a mom blogger you can recommend anything from kitchenware to car products, to movie theaters to kids’ toys. The biggest challenge is standing out from the crowd in order to gain the unique visibility needed to grow your readership. As always, a high-demand, niche blog will help you connect with readers.

The lifestyle niche blog topic makes for a wonderful adventure, but you must have the organization to manage a wide variety of sub-topics – considering the average person does quite a bit on a day-to-day basis.

Best blog niches #5: blogging

As strange as it may initially seem to put “blogging” on a list of the best blog niches, blogging is actually an extremely popular, profitable topic for blogs. When you think about it, though, it actually does make a lot of sense.

Why?

Because people get into blogging because they enjoy it. So, it’s only natural that they’d like to write about the topic as well.

BloggingPro, Copyblogger and Problogger.com all follow similar models, catering to content creators who want to become profitable in their own unique niche. You’ll see articles about various blog topics like “starting a blog from scratch”, “unique blog post ideas”, “writing a blog post that draws attention”, and “making money with your blog”.

The BloggingPro blog.
BloggingPro is the gold standard for blogging guidance, with articles about content marketing, writing, making money, blogging platforms, and more.

Plus, when you’re already tapped into the blogging community, other blogs are an obvious resource for advice and news. This might explain why there are blogs in this niche that see more than 100,000 visitors come in through organic search [4]. It all stems from the blog owners finding trending niches within blogging and writing guides about blog topics that people are searching for.

Conclusion 🧐

Finding a niche blog idea can help you stay focused. It can also help you build a loyal audience around that niche idea. For professional bloggers this is crucial, because a loyal audience is much easier to monetize than a passive audience.

Going into one of the more popular and profitable niches could make it easier to earn a living. Newer bloggers sometimes feel intimidated because they think that the niches are already over-saturated, but in actuality, this is a good sign. It means there’s already an existing, hungry audience there. As a blogger, it is your job to tap into it by focusing on a sub-niche within the broader niche, and of course adding your own unique value to it.

To recap, the five best blog niches that we believe will give you a good shot at success are:

  • Food
  • Fashion
  • Personal finance
  • Lifestyle
  • Blogging

Whichever blog niche you choose, make sure it’s something that you see yourself writing about for a while, because blogging success doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a long game and you need to put in the work to build your audience. Good luck!

  3. Substack: Here’s a platform that combines blogging and newsletter capabilities. It’s perfect for product review bloggers who want to build a loyal subscriber base and monetize their content through paid subscriptions. Substack simplifies the process of sending newsletters and managing subscriptions, allowing you to focus on creating valuable content.
  4. Medium: Another popular platform that offers a built-in audience and a simple interface for publishing your product reviews is Medium. It’s a great option if you want to reach a wider audience and benefit from the exposure that Medium provides. However, keep in mind that you won’t have as much control over the design and customization of your blog compared to other platforms. πŸ’‘ See our full comparison of Substack vs Medium.
  5. Blogger: Owned by Google, Blogger is a user-friendly platform that offers a straightforward option for a product review blogger just getting started. It has an easy setup process and a range of customizable templates to choose from. Plus, it integrates seamlessly with other Google services, making it convenient if you already use other Google products. πŸ’‘ See our full comparison of Blogger vs Medium.

While all of these platforms have their merits, in this tutorial we will focus on setting up a product review blog with WordPress.

Installing WordPress.

Why? πŸ€”

Because in our humble opinion, WordPress provides the most control, flexibility, and customization options, making it our favorite solution for creating a successful product review blog.

Launch a product review blog on WordPress

Here’s a short guide on how to set up a product review blog on WordPress:

Get hosting

Choose a reliable web hosting provider that offers WordPress hosting. Some popular options include Bluehost, SiteGround, and DreamHost. Sign up for a hosting plan that suits your needs and budget.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Most beginners choose a shared hosting plan. It’s (usually) the most cost effective option and adequate enough to meet the traffic demands of a young product review blog.

Install WordPress

Many hosting providers offer a one-click WordPress installation process. Log in to your hosting account, locate the WordPress installer, and follow the instructions to install WordPress on your domain.

Choose a theme

Select a WordPress theme that is suitable for a product review blogger.

The Hestia Pro theme.

Here are some recommended places to find blogging themes:

Install and customize the theme

Install your chosen theme by going to the Appearance section in your WordPress dashboard and selecting Themes. Click on Add New. There, you can either upload a theme file or search for themes.

Finding themes for a product review blog in WordPress.

Once installed, customize the theme to match your branding and design preferences.

Create necessary pages

Set up important pages such as “About,” “Contact,” and “Blog.” These pages provide essential information to your readers and ensure transparency.

Install essential plugins

Enhance the functionality of your product review blog by installing essential plugins.

Yoast SEO is great for a product review blogger.

Some recommended plugins include:

  • Yoast SEO: Helps optimize your blog for search engines.
  • Otter Blocks: One of the easiest ways to design your blog using page builder blocks.
  • Optimole: Automatically resizes and optimizes image files for improved website performance.
  • Akismet: Protects your blog from spam comments.
  • Visualizer: Essential for adding comparison charts and tables to your product review blog.

Now that you have a platform for blogging, let’s choose a niche.

Step 2: Select a niche for your product review blog πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’Ό

When starting a product review blog, selecting the right niche is crucial for your success. A niche refers to a specialized segment of the market, focusing on a specific topic or audience. It’s important to avoid picking a broad market, such as “Sports” or “Fashion,” as these can be difficult to market due to high competition.

It’s okay to begin your brainstorming process with broad topics, but only as a starting point. From there, you want to narrow it down to a more precise niche that not only aligns with your interests, but also has the potential to be profitable.

To identify a solid niche for your product review blog, consider the following three elements:

  1. Passion: Choose a niche that you are genuinely passionate about. Your passion will drive your motivation to consistently create high-quality content and engage with your audience.
  2. Market Demand: Research the market demand for your chosen niche. Look for niches that have a significant audience and a demonstrated interest in the products you plan to review. Tools like Google Trends, Keyword Planner, Exploding Topics, and social media analytics can help you gauge the popularity and search volume of topics.
  3. Expertise: Assess your ability and willingness to acquire expertise in the chosen niche (if you don’t have it already). While passion and expertise can be learned, it’s important to consider the level of effort and time required to become knowledgeable in a particular area.

Make a list

To start the process of selecting a niche, make a list of your passions. Consider everything that genuinely interests you, even if you don’t have prior knowledge or experience in those areas. Here are some usually profitable suggestions to get you started:

  • Online businesses
  • Fitness
  • Web hosting
  • WordPress themes
  • Personal finance
  • Travel
  • Camping
  • Cooking

Once you have your list, go through each item and cross off niches where you don’t have expertise or where becoming an expert may be too difficult. This will help narrow down your options.

Research the market

Next, research the market demand for the remaining topics. Utilize online tools like Google Trends, Google Keyword Planner, SEMrush, Ahrefs, or LowFruits to analyze search volume, competition, and trends within each niche.

Of the four, Ahrefs and SEMrush are similarly priced and considerably more expensive than LowFruits. You do get a lot of advanced features for your money, but when you’re just starting out, you probably won’t use many of them anyway.

If you have a little bit of cash to spare, LowFruits is arguably the best option for beginners. It lets you choose between a monthly subscription or a pay as you go option and comes with features that are particularly useful for new blogs.

LowFruits Keyword Research Tool.

However, if you want a completely free tool, then Google Keyword Planner will also get the job done.

Whichever option you go with, you should search for opportunities to narrow down broad topics and find more specific niches. For example, instead of a broad gardening niche, you could focus on specific categories like urban gardening, gardening for young professionals, or gardening for parents. This allows you to cater to a more targeted audience and differentiate yourself from the competition.

A quick search in Google Keyword Planner reveals that “gardening for parents” doesn’t have much potential, but “urban gardening” shows decent search volume with low competition.

A search that renders few monthly searches.

By conducting thorough market research and narrowing down your niche, you can ensure that there is both market demand and potential for profitability in your chosen area.

Step 3: Create engaging and informative content ✍️

High-quality content is the backbone of any successful product review blog. To engage your readers and provide valuable insights, consider the following tips:

  1. Include personal experiences and anecdotes: Share your experiences with the products you review. This adds authenticity and helps readers connect.
  2. Provide detailed information: Offer comprehensive information about the product’s features, benefits, and potential drawbacks. Be thorough and objective.
  3. Include visuals: Incorporate high-quality images, videos, or audio to enhance your reviews. Visuals can help readers visualize the product and make your content more engaging. If appropriate, include photos or videos of you personally using the product(s).

For instance, TrustedReviews.com is known for offering in-depth reviews with hands-on testing. Their reviews have quick navigation, tons of photos, listening options, and pros and cons lists.

A product review blogger with their blogging format.

Step 4: Building a following as a product review blogger πŸ‘·β€β™‚οΈ

Establishing a following for your product review blog is essential for increasing your reach, engagement, and potential monetization opportunities. It’s also arguably the most challenging step in the process. Here are some recommendations to help you build a loyal audience:

  1. Build an email list: Use email marketing platforms like Mailchimp or ConvertKit to manage your email list and send out regular newsletters. Provide valuable content in newsletters, such as product recommendations, tips, and exclusive discounts, to keep your subscribers engaged and interested in your blog.
Example of a product review blogger with a newsletter sign up form.
  1. Advertise/share on social media and search engines: Leverage the power of social media and search engine advertising to reach a wider audience as a product review blogger. Create social media profiles for your blog on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Regularly share your product reviews, blog posts, and other engaging content. Additionally, consider running targeted ads on social media platforms and search engines like Google Ads to reach potential readers who may be interested in your niche.
  2. Contact companies when you review their products: When you review products on your blog, reach out to the brands whose products you have reviewed. Let them know about your review and share the link to your blog post. This can help establish relationships with companies and potentially lead to collaborations, sponsored content, or affiliate partnerships.
  3. Engage with your audience: Actively engage with your audience by responding to comments on your blog posts, social media platforms, and emails. Encourage discussions, ask for feedback, and address any questions or concerns your readers may have. This is one of the main responsibilities of any product review blogger.
Comments from a blog where the product review blogger responds.
  1. Collaborate with other bloggers and influencers: Collaborating with other bloggers and influencers in your niche can help you tap into their existing audience and gain exposure. Consider guest posting on other relevant blogs, participating in collaborative projects, or hosting joint giveaways or promotions.

Remember, building a following takes time and consistent effort. Focus on providing valuable and high-quality content, engaging with your audience, and exploring various marketing channels to promote your blog. By implementing these strategies, you can grow your following, increase your blog’s visibility, and establish yourself as a trusted authority in your niche.

Step 5: Monetizing your product review blog πŸ’°

Now, let’s talk about monetizing your site as a product review blogger. Keep in mind that you need to have a decent size audience – which will vary to some extent based on your niche – before you can start monetizing. In other words, you can’t just jump into this step. But once you are ready, below are some effective strategies that you can use.

Join affiliate programs

Sign up for affiliate programs related to your niche. When readers purchase products through your affiliate links, you earn a commission. For instance, it’s common for WordPress and technology review bloggers to make money from the Themeisle affiliate program, which pays a hefty 55% commission.

The Themeisle affiliate program.

Sponsored content and collaborations

Collaborate with brands for sponsored posts or product reviews. Ensure transparency by clearly disclosing any sponsored content to maintain your readers’ trust. Shopify Collabs is an excellent place to find a wide range of brands looking to partner with influencers and bloggers, where they provide free product samples and affiliate payments.

Using Shopify Collabs to finds brands as a product review blogger.

Display advertisements

Incorporate display advertisements on your blog. Platforms like Google AdSense can help you generate revenue based on ad clicks or impressions.

Using Google Adsense to promote yourself as a product review blogger.

Remember, while monetization is important, maintaining the integrity and credibility of your blog should always be a priority.

Last word on writing blog reviews for products πŸ›οΈ

Becoming a product review blogger allows you to share your opinions, help others make informed decisions, and potentially earn income.

Here’s a recap of the steps required:

  • How to choose the right platform πŸ›’
  • Select a niche πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’Ό
  • Create engaging content ✍️
  • Build a following πŸ‘·β€β™‚οΈ
  • Effectively monetize your blog πŸ’°

Following these guidelines can help establish yourself as a successful product review blogger. Good luck as you start your journey, and be sure to follow our blog launch checklist for the best chance at success.

Thinking about starting a tech blog? One of the best ways to stay up to date with the industry and find inspiration for your articles is to follow the best tech blogs that are already out there.

This article will show you the best tech blogs focused on subjects like tech news, consumer technology reviews, AI, VR, and more. We’ll also talk about the ideas you can get from reading each of these blogs to help you choose the best content to follow for a spark of inspiration.

πŸ‘‰ First, though, let’s take a look at what makes a tech blog great in the first place.

How to choose the best tech blogs to follow

There are several factors to consider when choosing the tech blogs you’ll follow:

  • Area of focus. You want to make sure the blog’s area of focus aligns with your interests. If you’re looking at a blog that covers general trends in tech, make sure the categories include things you actively want to learn about.
  • Consistent updates. Tech is constantly changing. Great tech blogs publish articles frequently to keep up with where the industry is headed. This consistency helps you stay up to date on emerging trends and ensures that you always have inspiration on hand for your own articles.
  • Expert contributors. The best tech blogs feature content created by technology experts. This can include tech journalists, technology workers, founders of tech companies, and even some hobbyists who have put a lot of time and effort into understanding the world of tech. These people are best able to identify trends and understand the value of new technologies.

Most of all, you want to make sure you’re paying attention to a variety of blogs related to the aspects of tech you’re most interested in. This ensures that you’re well informed on the subject you’re trying to write about.

The best tech blogs for general trends

1. Wired

Homepage for Wired, one of the best tech blogs for understanding general tech trends.

Created in 1993, Wired has long been one of the most important publications in the technology sector. The blog posts several articles every day, sorted into categories like Business, Culture, and Gear. If there’s an aspect of the industry you want to learn about, you can find information about it here.

The one drawback of Wired is that you can only read a limited number of free articles per year. If you want full access, you’ll need to sign up for a paid subscription at $29.99 per year. However, you can reduce this price by taking advantage of Wired’s seasonal sales, which offer the subscription for as little as $5. Plus, you’ll also get access to podcasts, video series, and more.

πŸ’‘ Why it’s good for tech blog ideas

Wired can help you find upcoming trends to write about and better understand existing trends so you can discuss them with your audience in greater detail.

Wired is also a great example of how you can build a successful online publication by hiring a team of experienced writers. You might not be there yet, but it’s good to start thinking early about how you might want to expand your blog later on.

2. The Verge

The Verge homepage.

The Verge focuses on consumer technology. On this site, you’ll find lists of the best tech to improve various areas of your life, tech reviews, and information about how to make the most of the devices you’re already using. You can also find coverage of the business side of tech here.

Unlike most of the other blogs on this list of the best tech blogs, The Verge also has some non-tech categories, notably Cars and Entertainment. Some of the stories in these categories are still tech-related, though, like stories covering the development of autonomous cars.

πŸ’‘ Why it’s great for tech blog ideas

The Verge is a great example of how you can keep a blog fresh by publishing a mix of lists, reviews, and news stories.

3. TechCrunch

TechCrunch homepage.

If you want to keep your finger on the pulse of the business side of tech, TechCrunch is the blog for you. The blog covers startups, venture businesses, AI, cryptocurrency, apps, and more, with several new articles published every day.

TechCrunch also runs the Startup Battlefield, a program where tech startups participate in events like pitch-offs to compete for equity-free funding. Paying attention to the startups doing well in this program is a great way to understand what’s up-and-coming in the tech field.

Another great thing about TechCrunch is that it offers a variety of tech newsletters so you can get regular updates on the topics you’re most interested in rather than being overwhelmed by all of the content on the blog.

πŸ’‘ Why it’s great for tech blog ideas

TechCrunch is a great place to find new technologies and technlogy companies you want to feature on your own blog.

The newsletters are also a great example of how you can offer personalized content for different segments of your userbase, making sure they always get the content they most want to see.

4. VentureBeat

Homepage for VentureBeat, one of the best tech blogs for understanding the business side of tech.

VentureBeat is another one of the best tech blogs for staying up to date with technology business trends. This is where you’ll find stories about new products and corporate policies from major companies, tech company acquisitions, and other key developments in the technology space.

VentureBeat’s main categories are artificial intelligence, security, data infrastructure, automation, and enterprise analytics. You can also find stories about virtual communication and programming development.

This blog also accepts guest posts (if you’re interested, you can apply here), which means you’ll get to see articles from a variety of community members. Plus, you can even submit your own guest post to get your name in front of VentureBeat’s audience!

πŸ’‘ Why it’s great for tech blog ideas

VentureBeat is a great example of how you can create a unique look for your tech blog by using bold colors, a mix of illustrations, and high-quality photos.

5. Gizmodo

Gizmodo homepage.

Gizmodo covers a variety of science and technology stories, typically with a focus on how these things impact the world around us. You’ll also notice that a lot of the articles are focused on technologies that regular people use in their everyday lives. This allows Gizmodo to reach an audience beyond the avid techies who frequent other top tech blogs.

Gizmodo also offers three different newsletters: the Gizmodo newsletter for all types of Gizmodo content, iO9 for future-focused stories, and Earther for climate news. This means you can ensure that you’re only getting the news you want in your inbox.

πŸ’‘ Why it’s great for tech blog ideas

Many of the best tech blogs are built to appeal to a very specific, relatively small audience. Gizmodo is a great example of how you can write about tech in a way that connects with a broader audience and helps them understand why/how technology trends impact them.

6. Mashable

Mashable homepage.

Mashable is a tech blog that focuses mostly on gadgets built for the everyday consumer. This is where you can find information about things like laptops, smart phones, and home devices like air purifiers. You’ll find a mix of reviews, guides, and deal roundups for all of these types of devices and more.

However, Mashable has expanded to cover more than just tech. The blog also features articles on digital culture, lifestyle, entertainment, travel, and more.

πŸ’‘ Why it’s great for tech blog ideas

Mashable shows that tech doesn’t have to just be computers. In fact, technology influences all areas of our lives – that’s why you’ll find articles about things like fitness trackers in both the Life and Tech sections. If you want to expand beyond computers and smart phones, Mashable is a great example of how to do it.

7. AI Magazine

Home of AI and Artificial Intelligence News.

Whether you love it or hate it, there’s no denying that AI is a big thing right now. And if you want to keep track of this emerging technology, there’s no better place to go than AI magazine.

This magazine covers everything related to AI: technological developments, ethical concerns, and business developments like company memberships. You’ll even find comprehensive company reports, helping you better understand individual players in the AI game.

πŸ’‘ What makes it great for tech blog ideas

If you want to talk about AI on your own blog, this is the place to find story ideas. It’s also one of the best tech blogs for learning how to present different types of information in an engaging way.

8. Hacker News

Hacker News homepage.

The Hacker News covers all things related to cybersecurity: security features of consumer technology, like iPhones, updates around data breaches and cyber attacks, and detailed reports of vulnerabilities found in many types of technology.

The Hacker News also offers webinars that can help you stay up-to-date on cybersecurity trends, techniques for staying safe, and more.

πŸ’‘ What makes it great for tech blog ideas

The Hacker News is among the best tech blogs for learning about cybersecurity. It’s also a great example of how you can build a successful niche blog aimed at tech experts rather than only the average reader.

9. Road to VR

Homepage for Road to VR, one of the best tech blogs for understanding Virtual Reality technology.

Started in 2011, Road to VR is the longest-running blog in the VR space. The blog focuses primarily on VR developments in gaming, with lots of articles about VR gaming devices and individual VR games.

Road to VR also covers artificial intelligence topics, such as the use of AI in military training. This can help you understand the wider applications of this technology.

In addition, Road to VR has a Guest Articles section where you can read contributions from the community. Unfortunately, though, there are no clear guidelines on how to submit your own articles.

πŸ’‘ Why it’s great for tech blog ideas

Road to VR is a great place to find out about upcoming VR projects that you can review or otherwise talk about on your own blog.

10. AR Insider

AR Insider homepage.

AR Insider is a magazine-style digital publication that shares news and analysis related to augmented reality and virtual reality technology. This blog also publishes a wide range of multimedia content, including five-minute Analyst Briefs to help you gain a more comprehensive understanding of various aspects of the AR space.

AR Insider also curates news from other sources, making it a great place to get a wide variety of news about the industry.

Another great thing about AR Insider is the Editorial Contributor Program, which ensures that a wide range of voices are published on the site.

πŸ’‘ Why it’s great for tech blog ideas

AR Insider shows what you can accomplish when you work with real experts in the technology niche you want to write about. The news curation and research arms of AR Insider also show how you can build content in a variety of ways other than writing articles.

Final thoughts 🏁

The post How to Find Guest Blogging Opportunities: Easy to Follow Guide appeared first on BloggingPro.

]]>
So, the question of how to find guest blogging opportunities has led you here.

This probably means you want to get more eyes on your blog or website. Or maybe you’re looking for a way to bring in more qualified leads.

Whatever the case may be, you’ve come to the right place. πŸ“Œ

Guest blogging is one of the most powerful online marketing tools. However, it does have a few challenges. For starters, finding the right blogs to pitch to can be a headache. Then there’s the hurdle of actually getting your post accepted. And if your post is accepted, there’s still the task of promoting it and trying to drive traffic back to your own website.

It’s definitely not easy. But luckily, 😎 you won’t have to figure it all out by yourself. Keep reading to learn our top tips on finding the best guest blogging opportunities and making valuable connections along the way.

How to find guest blogging opportunities in four steps

Step 1: Use search engines βš™οΈ

Our first step in answering how to find guest blogging opportunities is turning to the biggest search engine – Google.

How do you begin?

Well, the good news is that websites that accept guest posts usually have a page detailing the guidelines for guest blogging. This means that you just need the right search terms to help you find them.

During this step, it’s also essential to focus on your niche. Remember that you want your blog posted on the most relevant blog or website, and your niche can help you achieve this.

🏁 To get started, head straight to Google. Input your niche in the search bar, followed by any one of the following terms:

“write for us”

“guest post”

“contributor guidelines”

“guest blogging”

“contribute to our site”

“guest article”

“become a contributor”

“guest post opportunities”

“become an author”

“accepting guest posts”

“become a guest contributor”

Below, we searched for “marketing + write for us.”

Google search for "marketing + write for us".

You can then create your own spreadsheet and list all the blogs and websites that accept guest authors in your niches.

Step 2: Check out your competitors πŸ€Όβ€β™‚οΈ

The second step in learning how to find guest blogging opportunities is to start targeting the websites or blogs that your competitors have guest posted on.

For this step, you can use an SEO tool like Ahrefs’ Backlink Checker or SEMRush’s Backlink Analytics.

SEMRush Tool.
SEMRush dashboard for Backlink Analytics

This will help you see any recent links your competitor has gained from guest blogs.

⭐ Here’s why this step is so great:

  • Your competitors get to do the hard work of finding guest blogging opportunities, and you just add them to your spreadsheet.
  • You’ll find some of the most relevant guest posting opportunities.
  • If they accepted a post from your close competitor, why can’t they accept yours? (This can be a real confidence booster).
  • Not all guest post backlinks offer the same value. If your competitor targeted that website or blog, there’s a good chance that this will offer a quality backlink, which can help your SEO ratings.

Step 3: Network with other bloggers πŸ“‘

While on your quest to answer how to find guest blogging opportunities, don’t forget that there are people who’ve done this before you. So, they can provide you with some great, first-hand tips from their experiences.

You can find these people online by joining blogging groups, forums, or social media groups.

For example, Facebook has around 2.96 billion monthly users, and 1.8 billion of these people use Facebook Groups [1, 2].

To find relevant groups, simply search for them and request to become a member.

Travel blogging groups on Facebook search.

Many of these groups are free to join and offer great communities where members constantly exchange information.

πŸ‘‰ Once you’ve been admitted to a group, you can go ahead, introduce yourself and ask for guest blogging recommendations from the community.

Step 4: Identify target websites/blogs 🎯

The above steps help you identify guest posting opportunities. But not all are created equal.

For your guest blogging strategy to give you good results, you need to identify the right sites or blogs for you and the brand you’re trying to build.

There are a couple of things to note as you finalize your list of potential guest blogging opportunities:

Firstly, you want to focus only on blogs in your niche

There are many websites and blogs that allow all niche writers to guest post. The problem with opting for these online platforms is that it becomes challenging to track the success of your blog.

For example, you might end up getting a few likes and shares on your post’s engagement and think that it’s because the blog topic wasn’t great. However, the reason may be that only a few members understood the topic. To make it easier to track true audience engagement, it’s best to focus on your niche.

Secondly, don’t forget the audience

In addition to niching down when looking for opportunities, you want to prioritize blogs and sites with an audience similar to yours. That way, you can be sure that your content will resonate with their readers.

You can do this by researching their previous blog posts. Ask yourself if this is the type of content your audience would enjoy. Could you see yourself writing a blog post on this topic? If yes, then you probably have similar audiences.

How to get guest blogging opportunities: Your pitch

The above steps will help you on your journey of finding quality guest blogging opportunities. But your job is far from over because you still need to create the perfect pitch – one that will stand out from the rest.

πŸ“ Where do you begin?

First, study the guest blogging guidelines πŸ“™

After putting in the hard work to find these opportunities, it would be a shame to lose them just because you didn’t follow the rules.

So, for this step, navigate to a page on the website you’re interested in pitching to, that has a title like “contributor guidelines,” “guest blogging rules,” or something along those lines.

You want to ensure that you read these guidelines carefully and follow them perfectly.

At this stage, you may notice that some blogs are only interested in your pitch (i.e., idea and outline for the post), while others prefer you to write a full blog so they can assess if it’s a good fit for them.

Some guidelines may also include the type of content the editors are currently looking for. Take note of all this important information.

Second, personalize your pitch ⚑

If you’ve found a great blog to pitch to, you’re not the only one.

Listen, many bloggers are looking for how to find guest blogging opportunities.

This is not to discourage you.

However, we do want you to understand that you need to stand out from the crowd. And one of the best ways to help your pitch stand out is by personalizing it to the recipient.

Personalization starts with addressing the editor or content manager by name. For example, “Hi Paul” is much better than a generic “Dear Sir/Madam”.

Next, you want to do your research on the blog or website you’re pitching to. Take a look at their recent posts, their audience, and their writing style. Then, use this information to tailor your pitch to fit their needs and interests.

For example, you can reference a recent article or topic that caught your attention. Or, if you see they often write about travel, mention a recent trip you took and how it could relate to their audience.

Showing that you’ve done your homework can go a long way in getting your pitch noticed.

Third, provide topic ideas πŸ’‘

No matter how much time and research has gone into your pitch, sometimes it just doesn’t hit the mark.

So, to increase your chances of getting published, instead of pitching one blog idea, how about two or three?

This is great for multiple reasons; it allows the editor to pick and choose a topic they prefer and lets them know that you’ve taken the time to think about their blog and what topics may resonate well with them. What’s more, if they like more than one idea, they might offer an opportunity to submit more than one blog post. Just don’t forget about step one if you’re going to do this. In other words, make sure there is nothing in the pitch guidelines about only submitting one topic idea at a time.

Fourth, showcase your experience and expertise πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’»

Trying to land a guest blog on a health publication and have ten years of experience in the health sector? Mention that.

Have you styled a few fairly known people and are pitching to a style blog? Don’t forget to highlight that.

Has a reputable site published any of your blog posts? Add this information to your pitch.

Basically, don’t be shy to show off your knowledge and experience. After all, the goal is to prove to the editor or content manager that if they approve your pitch, you will produce an informative and quality piece, and what better way to do that than by showcasing your skills and expertise?

Additional tips to find guest blogging opportunities

So, you’ve pitched your guest post, they love it, and now you’re in the process of writing. Here are a few tips to help maximize your chances of getting published:

  • Write quality content. Like any other content you publish, quality is the key to success. It may seem tempting to create a quick article and get it out there, but that’s not the way to go. When guest posting, you should try to create amazing blog content that resonates with the reader and ticks all the boxes regarding research, relevance, and readability.
  • Promote your guest post. You’ve poured your heart and soul into crafting a brilliant guest post, and now it’s time to spread the word! To maximize the reach and impact of your post, don’t be shy about promoting it across your social media channels. Share a teaser quote or two, tag the host blog or website, and encourage your followers to check it out. You might even consider sending a quick email blast to your email list or including a link in your email signature. Remember, the more eyes you can get on your post, the more likely it is to spark conversations, attract new readers, and help you grow your brand.
  • Track traffic and engagement. By monitoring the number of views, shares, and comments, you can better understand how your content resonates with readers. Plus, if certain topics or writing styles generate more engagement, you can use that information to improve your future posts.

Now you know everything about how to find guest blogging opportunities πŸš€

We hope you’ve learned a lot about how to find guest blogging opportunities.

We also hope you use the above tips to help you create a pitch that will help you stand out.

All the best to you on your guest blogging journey!

Quillbot vs Grammarly is a comparison we can only make in modern times. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is seeping into all areas of our lives, including as writing assistants. Both of these apps claim to ‘tighten up’ your sentences, cut out mistakes, and polish off your prose ready for delivery. However, each will do these in different ways.

In fact, AI writing assistants span a huge range of niches. For starters, you have the rudimentary technology within word processing apps, such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs. These combine predictive text and editing into one, which is kind of like a first pass of ‘line editing.’ Grammarly and Quillbot, on the other hand, are more like editors checking your work.

The benefits for your blog can be impactful. For starters, you can write without worrying about fixing errors as you type. This can mean you get to unleash your creativity unhindered. What’s more, this will cost less than using an editor and take less time to turn around too. With the right setup, you can also improve your Search Engine Optimization (SEO). In addition, each app also brings something unique to the table that only adds to the benefits.

For this comparison article, we’ll look at Quillbot vs Grammarly. To start, we’ll give you a quick overview of each app, then get into the specifics of both the free and premium versions. At the end, we’ll summarize the pros and cons and give you our take on which app is best for your blog.

πŸ“š Table of contents:

The two apps we’ll compare

Quillbot vs Grammarly is a comparison with a lot of similarities, yet some major and clear differences, too. Before we get into specific comparison points, let’s take a look at what each app wants to achieve in general. We’ll start with Quillbot, then move onto Grammarly.

Quillbot

If we want to place Quillbot on an AI writing assistant spectrum, it’s more of an editing suite of tools that also incorporates text ‘reduction’ and AI text generation, too.

Quillbot Logo

The app started as a thesaurus, which it now incorporates into its wider feature set. Its paraphrasing tool is front and center. This will take a batch of text and reword it for you, with your customizations to help make the writing your own.

You have a number of different modes to suit various settings, and a way to address how many changes the tool makes. Note that these changes can sometimes reduce the accuracy of your work, so, you’ll want to review them before you publish.

πŸ‘‰ However, paraphrasing is not the only thing Quillbot can do. Here’s a quick list of other tools in the box:

  • Grammar checker.
  • Plagiarism checker.
  • Summarizer.
  • Citation generator.
  • Translator.
  • Co-writer.

We’ll look at some of these in greater detail throughout the article. However, special mention goes to the Summarizer, which chops down a piece of text to a summary, and the Co-writer – an AI text generator.

In the meantime, let’s talk about Grammarly.

Grammarly

Quick question: how many YouTube videos will you need to watch before you see a Grammarly ad? It’s a popular app, especially among content creators. The reasons are numerous, but it’s primarily a fantastic writing assistant that can slot into almost all of the major tools and apps you’d use to write.

The Grammarly logo.

πŸ‘‰ Given the name, you’d expect the app to offer suggestions about grammar, but it can do much more. For instance, here’s a breakdown of its core offerings:

  • Grammarly checks tone, style, vocabulary, and more.
  • It includes a paraphrasing tool, just like Quillbot.
  • In fact, you’ll also find a citation generator, a plagiarism checker, AI writer, and more in line with what Quillbot provides.
  • One aspect we love is the style guide creator. This lets you create rules to help communications between your company and customers, and get your writing spot on.

We like what Grammarly can do for businesses on the whole, and how it sits among your other workflow apps without being dominant.

Quillbot vs Grammarly: how the free apps compare πŸ’Έ

The good news is that Quillbot vs Grammarly isn’t a premium-only experience. Both apps provide free tiers, albeit with reduced functionality compared to the premium tier.

Throughout this section, we’ll look at the key features of both apps. From there, we’ll try to gauge the value of the free versions and whether they’re worth it.

Key features of Quillbot free

Once you head to the main Quillbot page, you’ll see the Paraphrasing Tool ready to rock and roll:

Quillbot's Paraphrasing Tool on its home page for Quillbot vs Grammarly comparison.

In the left-hand sidebar, you can see all the tools on offer, although you don’t get free access to all of them. For instance, there’s no free version of the Co-writer or Plagiarism Checker. However, you do have restricted access to the following:

  • The ability to paraphrase up to 125 words, using two modes and three synonym options.
  • You’re able to paste 1,200 words into the Summarizer.
  • The Grammar Checker, Citation Generator, and Translator tools are all free to use.

Key features of Grammarly free

As for Grammarly, you get a more typical screen once you hit the website, where you need to sign up for Grammarly’s services:

The Grammarly home page for Quillbot vs Grammarly comparison.

As for what comes in the free plan, you get the following:

  • General proofreading tools, such as grammar, punctuation, spell checking, tone detection, and conciseness checks.
  • An auto-citation tool.
  • AI assistance that gives you 100 prompts per month. This will cover ideation on a topic, composition, reply formation, rewriting, and personalization.

So both apps offer expansive free tiers, with some different focuses. Next, we can look at whether they’re worth your time.

Assessing the value of both apps

Overall, Grammarly’s free features provide greater assistance with writing. We don’t like the limits Quillbot proposes with its Paraphrasing Tool and Summarizer, although the two tools are valuable. This is particularly frustrating given how these tools are emphasized on the home page.

Regardless, we could see some bloggers using and preferring Quillbot free for certain tasks. This is down to how ‘immediate’ the app is to use, and the (albeit limited) Summarizer. The latter could be good for creating TL;DR callout boxes, for example.

Quillbot vs Grammarly: the premium comparison πŸ’°

If you have free apps that can do almost everything you need, there’s always a question of what a premium upgrade can do. In fact, the question we’ll look to help answer here comes down to: “Is Quillbot vs Grammarly premium worth it?”

As you might expect, the answer has its nuances. We’ll look to cover them in the following sections.

Key features of Quillbot premium

The starkest contrast in features sits with Quillbot free vs premium. This means it’s easier to tell you what those premium features are. Other than removing the limits on using the paraphraser and freeze words, the app also gives you the following:

  • More modes to help with different writing contexts, such as Formal and Creative.
  • An extra synonym option.
  • Advanced grammar rewriting.
  • Access to the plagiarism checker.
  • Tone detection functionality.
  • Paraphraser history.
  • For the desktop version of Quillbot, you have a handy Compare mode.

Key features of Grammarly premium

With Grammarly, you have a few more niceties in the box that expand on what the free app already does:

  • Consistency and fluency checks for English only.
  • Full sentence rewrites and formatting – both essential for clarity.
  • You can tweak word choice and variety.
  • There are lots of ways to further check and amend the tone of your writing to sound confident, friendly, constructive, and more.
  • You get those sweet, juicy team features such as brand tone guidelines, style guides, and more.

Assessing the value of both apps

We’d say that both premium tiers have something to offer if you come in using the free tier. Though, we will say that Quillbot’s free tier will see you butt up against its limits quite fast. If you want to lean on the app as a ‘second editor,’ you’ll have more cause to upgrade sooner than if you’re using the Grammarly free tier.

Quillbot vs Grammarly: Usability πŸ–±οΈ

Quillbot usability

The first step when it comes to usability is how fast you can begin working. As we mention, Quillbot brings you to the Paraphrasing Tool immediately. This lets you jump right into using the app, and we like this approach. This desktop version is easy to navigate, and it’s clear which features you can use for free for not thanks to the orange diamond icon:

Quillbot's Paraphrasing Tool.

As for using everything, you simply paste in writing, select options or move sliders, and click to make the changes you’ve selected:

The full Paraphrasing Tool in Quillbot, using the Rephrase functionality to improve a sentence.

From there, you can export or copy that text with a single click. It’s fast, direct, and this whole design process could win you over as a new user.

You also have a browser extension for Chrome (and Chromium-based browsers) that is functional. You access Quillbot from the system right-click menu, and it requires you to paste text into a window:

Using Quillbot in browser to help write an email, with a right-hand sidebar.

Grammarly usability

For Grammarly, you first need to go through a signup process, which feels typical, but could put those off who want to just test the app out risk-free.

Additionally, while Quillbot doesn’t need any initial setup, there’s an (albeit skippable) onboarding wizard with Grammarly. If you do choose to use this wizard, it will help you tailor your experience to your needs. Still, it feels like another roadblock, and it makes Grammarly feel less immediate:

The Grammarly onboarding wizard.

At this point, you get a link to the Grammarly app download, along with a list that tells you where Grammarly will work in its various guises:

Grammarly's list of supported apps for integration.

Once you create a new document and paste in your text, you’ll need to set goals such as your audience and intent:

Setting goals within the Grammarly browser app.

From there, you can work on your content using the impressive interface. We like this more than Quillbot, as it shows clear highlighting of any potential issues, gives them a priority, and offers a general opinion on how ‘well’ you’ve done.

Running through Grammarly suggestions, with suggestions for what to change.

Thanks to the integrations Grammarly provides, you can use it almost anywhere. You get a small widget that pops up whenever you write, which lets you run through the errors Grammarly finds:

Using Grammarly's widget in browser as an overlay during email writing.

In our opinion, this is better than Quillbot. It offers greater integration, is unobtrusive, and feels less ‘clunky.’ Grammarly shows its fantastic integration here, over the less refined Quillbot.

Quillbot vs Grammarly: pricing πŸ’΅

The last comparison we have to make is one of the most important: the price. Fortunately, Quillbot vs Grammarly both have competitive and cost-effective pricing for its premium tiers.

For Grammarly, there are two tiers:

  • Premium (starts at $10 per month). This unlocks almost everything Grammarly offers, albeit you don’t get the brand and style guide functionality. You also get up to 1,000 prompts per month, which should be plenty.
  • Business (starts at $15 per month). This tier builds on the Premium one with some extra security features, and the team features missing from the lower tier.

Quillbot offers a whopping one premium tier. This unlocks all the available functionality. However, you have three ways to pay for it. The month-by-month cost is $19.95, but you can also pay $79.95 every six months, or $99.95 every year. An annual Quillbot plan is cheaper than Grammarly Premium, although the difference in cost is inconsequential in our book.

The pros and cons of both apps (in a nutshell) πŸ‘πŸ‘Ž

We give you a lot of information in this Quillbot vs Grammarly comparison. As such, it’s only right to give you a quick overview of what we think. Here’s a table that displays the pros and cons of each:

QuillbotGrammarly
ProsSuper-simple usability with no signup processSlick-looking and time-saving, thanks to its integrations and ability to read from the app.
An easy on the eye, yet sparse interface that highlights changes with a focus on visibility. The brand and style guide functionality is valuable and helpful for team workflows.
ConsStingy free tierConvoluted signup process.
There are fewer ways to integrate Quillbot into your workflow. The best features are all on the Business tier, which might be out of the reach of most users.

Quillbot vs Grammarly: which is better for bloggers? πŸ€”

While they won’t suit every case, blog, or writer, an AI writing assistant can be a boon for busy bloggers. Quillbot vs Grammarly is a common comparison because both offer a wealth of ways to edit your work on the go, and come with plenty of benefits. In short:

  • We think that Quillbot will suit solo bloggers who need some editing help and assistance while writing. The free version is great if you don’t want to commit to integrating an app into your workflow.
  • Grammarly is a clear winner when it comes to usability (post-signup), but business applications will see the app roar. Its branding and tone style guide functionality is mega valuable, and the pricing is fantastic.

In truth, both apps are fantastic – the app you choose is down to your own use case and needs.

The post Payhip Review From a Blogger’s Perspective: Is It Any Good? appeared first on BloggingPro.

]]>
As a blogger, I am always on the lookout for platforms that can help me monetize my content effectively. In this article, I will conduct a comprehensive Payhip review from a blogger’s perspective, highlighting its pros and cons, pricing, and features that are ideal for those trying to monetize their blogs.

πŸ“š Table of contents:

What is Payhip? And how can it help bloggers? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

To begin, I’d like to explain Payhip’s potential for the average blogger. Payhip is an ecommerce platform that allows creators to sell a myriad of products (digital, physical, courses, and more) directly to their audience. It provides a user-friendly interface and a range of features that simplify selling things like ebooks, courses, memberships, and even coaching.

Payhip information screenshot for our Payhip review.

With Payhip, I can easily create and upload my products, customize my storefront to match my branding, set pricing options, and leverage an affiliate program to expand my reach. The platform also integrates with popular email marketing tools, enabling me to build and nurture my audience efficiently.

Payhip interface.

Overall, Payhip has the potential to provide a comprehensive solution for bloggers who want to monetize content and sell products directly to an audience. Depending on your platform, it’s possible to even replace systems like WooCommerce, Gumroad, E-junkie, and Shopify. During my Payhip review, however, I found that it’s not necessarily for everyone. Keep reading to learn about its pros and cons, and where it excels for bloggers.

Pros and cons of Payhip πŸ‘πŸ‘Ž

When considering using Payhip as a platform to sell products from your blog, it’s important to weigh the pros and cons:

Pros:

  • User-friendly interface: It’s easy to create and upload products, customize storefronts, and manage sales.
  • Sell on any platform: Add the Payhip checkout to your current blog or build a blog with Payhip.
  • Flexible customer pricing: With Payhip, you can set flexible pricing options for your products, including offering discounts, bundles, and recurring subscriptions.
  • Affiliate program: Payhip offers the option to create an affiliate program, allowing you to leverage the power of influencers and affiliates to expand your reach and increase sales.
  • Integration with email marketing tools: Payhip seamlessly integrates with popular email marketing tools, enabling you to build and nurture your audience effectively.
  • Free and premium plans: You get all features, regardless of the plan. It’s just the transaction fee that changes.

Cons:

  • Limited customization options: While Payhip allows for some customization of storefronts, it may not offer as much flexibility in terms of design and branding as some other platforms.
  • Limited payment options: Payhip supports popular payment gateways like PayPal and Stripe, but it lacks the range of payment options offered by some competitors.
  • Transaction fee for Plus plan: One of the premium plans (at $29 per month) still makes you pay a fee of 2% per transaction.
  • Limited analytics and reporting: Payhip provides basic analytics and reporting features, but it may not offer as in-depth insights and data as more robust ecommerce platforms.

Now that you understand the pros and cons from our Payhip review, let’s look at its pricing.

Pricing πŸ’³

Payhip’s pricing structure is quite reasonable for bloggers. The platform operates on a subscription model, with small percentages being taken from each sale for the lower-priced subscriptions. This approach is beneficial for bloggers who are just starting and may not have a large budget for upfront costs.

πŸ‘‰ The pricing plans:

  • Free Forever: $0 per month. There’s a 5% transaction fee, support for unlimited products, and unlimited revenue. You get all the Payhip features.
  • Plus: $29 per month. There’s a 2% transaction fee. You get all the features and unlimited products/revenue.
  • Pro: $99 per month. No transaction fees. All features and unlimited products/revenue.

PayPal and Stripe (the integrated payment processors) still take their credit card fees on top of the subscriptions and fees listed above. Credit card fees vary based on country and payment type, but generally hover around 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.

In summary, bloggers can take advantage of the free plan when getting started and upgrade to the premium plans as they grow (for lower, or no, transaction fees). The 2% transaction fee for the Plus plan (a paid plan) is frustrating, but it is nice to see that each plan provides every Payhip feature and support for unlimited products and revenue.

Features that are great for bloggers βš™οΈ

In the following sections, I explain the features from Payhip that are sure to make selling on your blog much easier.

Compatibility with the major blogging platforms

Payhip integrates with various major blogging platforms seamlessly, making it easy for bloggers to sell digital and physical products directly from their websites. Whether you’re using WordPress, Ghost, Joomla, or even closed systems like Wix or Shopify, Payhip offers compatibility and flexibility. Here’s how Payhip works with these platforms:

  1. Open-source systems like WordPress and Ghost: You can embed code for the Payhip checkout on any of your pages, or include a link to an external checkout page. Alternatively, there’s an option to embed an Add to Cart button, which enables access to the shopping cart from anywhere on the website.
  2. Closed Systems like Wix, Weebly, and Shopify: Payhip’s compatibility extends beyond open-source platforms. All you need to do is create a Payhip link or use the embeddable code to add a checkout button to your website.

Here’s an example of the shopping cart that’s available anywhere on your site:

Shopping cart icon and list shown everywhere on your site.

And the various options provided for getting checkout links and embed code from Payhip:

Getting the embed code from Payhip.

A shopping cart and checkout that remains on your domain

One of the standout features we discovered in our Payhip review is its option to keep the cart and checkout experience on your domain. This means that when customers are ready to make a purchase, they can complete the transaction without being redirected to a third-party domain.

The checkout on your domain.

For bloggers who have invested time and effort into building their brand and creating a cohesive user experience on their website, having an on-domain cart and checkout option is crucial for the user experience, branding, and conversion potential.

In contrast to Payhip, many competitors in the shopping cart space require customers to go through a third-party domain for the cart and checkout process.

Dead-simple online store and product creation

Payhip review of the store builder.

Payhip offers an incredibly simple online store builder that allows users to create and launch an ecommerce store within seconds. With Payhip, there’s no need to worry about coding or complex settings. Here’s how the store builder stood out during my Payhip review:

  1. Quick and Easy Setup: Payhip’s online store builder streamlines the process of setting up an ecommerce store. With just a few clicks, you can have your store up and running in no time.
  2. Hassle-Free Product Addition: Adding products to your Payhip store is fairly easy. The intuitive interface makes it easy to upload media, set pricing options, and provide product descriptions. You can also categorize your products for easy navigation and organization.
Making a product in our Payhip review.
  1. Basic Customization Tools: Payhip provides basic but solid customization tools that allow you to brand your online store. You can customize colors, fonts, and other visual elements to match your brand identity.
  2. Support for Custom Domains: Payhip allows you to use your own custom domain for your online store, instead of a generic Payhip URL.
  3. Built-in Blogging System: In addition to the online store builder, our Payhip review revealed a solid system to create and display blog posts. So, you could potentially move your entire blogging/ecommerce operation to one platform.
Editing a blog post.

Support for selling blogger-specific products

Payhip offers support for selling a wide range of blogger-specific products. Here are the five main product categories and the features provided by Payhip for each:

  1. Digital Downloads: Sell digital downloads, such as e-books, guides, templates, and presets. With Payhip, you can easily upload and manage your digital files and provide secure download links.
  2. Online Courses: You can upload course materials, set pricing options (including one-time payments or recurring subscriptions), and even drip-feed content to provide a structured learning experience.
  3. Memberships: Set different membership tiers with varying levels of access and benefits. You can set up recurring payments, manage member subscriptions, and provide members-only content or forums.
  4. Physical Products: Sell physical products like merchandise, books, or other tangible items.
  5. Coaching: Sell coaching sessions or packages. You can set availability, schedule appointments, and even integrate with Calendly and Zoom for meetings.
Picking a product type.

Simplified payments (with the bonus of tax reporting)

Configuring payments in our Payhip review.

It’s nice to see that Payhip offers an incredibly simple payment processing system. Here are the advantages we found during our Payhip review:

  1. Integrated Payment Gateways: Payhip has integrated two of the most popular and trusted payment gateways: Stripe and PayPal. This means that customers can easily pay for products using all major credit cards or their PayPal account.
  2. Tax Reporting and Payment: Payhip goes the extra mile by providing tax reporting for bloggers, particularly in regions like the UK, EU, and US. Payhip automatically calculates and collects the appropriate taxes based on the customer’s location and the applicable tax laws.

Marketing made for bloggers

Creating a coupon code in our Payhip review.

We found a range of marketing features during our Payhip review, but which ones are right for bloggers? Here are some key features to get your blog and products noticed:

  1. Referrals: Payhip allows bloggers to set up referral programs, incentivizing their customers to refer their products to others. This comes with tracking and commission management.
  2. Cross-Selling and Upselling: With Payhip, bloggers can implement cross-selling and upselling strategies to increase their average order value. You can add these to your product pages or the checkout area.
  3. Affiliate Programs: Payhip offers built-in affiliate program functionality, allowing bloggers to recruit affiliates who can promote their products for a commission. Payhip has tools to manage affiliates, track sales, and automate commission payouts.
  4. Coupons and Discounts: Payhip enables bloggers to create and distribute coupons and discounts to incentivize purchases. You can set up percentage-based or fixed-amount discounts, specify expiration dates, and limit the number of times a coupon can be used.
  5. Email Marketing Integrations: Payhip integrates with more than ten popular email marketing platforms, including AWeber, Drip, Mailchimp, SendFox, and Campaign Monitor.
Setting up mailing lists in our Payhip review.

Overall, we realized that virtually all the marketing features from Payhip are ideal for bloggers since the platform caters to those in the creator economy.

Payhip customer support πŸ”§

Payhip’s customer support is generally responsive and helpful. Our Payhip review showed that they offer support through email and live chat and have a comprehensive knowledge base that addresses common questions and issues.

The Payhip help center.

We found no phone number to contact during our Payhip review, but that’s not uncommon in the low-cost shopping cart market. You would probably only find this with more complex systems or full ecommerce platforms.

πŸ‘‰As for online documentation, the help center has a decent number of articles, along with these pages and tools to help you with selling on a blog:

  • FAQs
  • A blog
  • A marketing ideas tool
  • Specific guides on how to sell things like ebooks, templates, and printables

With a wide range of features for bloggers to sell products, it makes sense for all creators to check out Payhip.

Is Payhip right for you? πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ

Still not sure if Payhip is for you? Check out our final recommendations:

Payhip might be a good choice for your blog if…

  • You are looking for an easy-to-use platform to sell digital and physical products without extensive technical knowledge.
  • You’d like to sell additional products like courses, coaching, or memberships; or multiple types of products from one blog.
  • You want the flexibility to experiment with different pricing strategies to find what works best for your audience.
  • You are interested in leveraging an affiliate program to expand your reach and increase sales.
  • You want an email marketing integration and other marketing tools built for bloggers.

You can skip Payhip if your blog is…

  • You require a wide range of design templates for your storefront, as Payhip’s options are somewhat limited.
  • You prefer a platform with more advanced features and customization options, even if it comes with a steeper learning curve.
  • You have a large budget and are willing to invest in a platform with higher upfront costs.
  • Run in a country or industry that requires a unique payment processor besides PayPal or Stripe.

In conclusion, our Payhip review revealed several features that make it a compelling choice for bloggers looking to sell products. It’s dead-simple to use, keeps the shopping cart on your domain, and lets you sell virtually anything (with the right marketing tools). While there are some limitations, such as the limited design templates, Payhip’s affordability and overall functionality make it a platform worth considering for bloggers.
